Lugano Elegance, an event not to be missed by classic car lovers

Lugano, Switzerland – As the winter season draws to an end, the Lugano Region is gearing up for an exciting Spring and Summer 2024, with plans to showcase the area's rich cultural, artistic, and gastronomic offerings. Aimed at attracting a wide array of visitors, from couples to art and culture enthusiasts and food lovers, the region is preparing an array of activities during these vibrant seasons, as well as in the quieter periods devoid of holidays and festivities.

Recognizing the cosmopolitan nature of its visitors, the Lugano Region promotes its regional events in four languages: English, Italian, German, and French. This multilingual approach underscores the importance of international events in the development of tourism within the area. The calendar on luganoregion.com features a wide variety of events with international appeal, ranging from major exhibitions to sporting events, ensuring that every visitor finds something of interest.

A highlight of the upcoming season is the fourth edition of Lugano Elegance, the Classic Cars Concours d'Elegance, slated for May 2024. “Lugano Elegance is an event with participants from different countries that therefore contribute to making the destination known internationally. Moreover, the audience it attracts is in line with one of our target groups, HNWI.”, said Massimo Boni, director of Lugano Region.

“We are happy to welcome Lugano Region as part of our main partners and supporters. Through our partnership, we aim to promote Lugano as a top destination for HNWI who have a passion for classic cars. Our event, Lugano Elegance, already is a meeting place for over 50 world-class participants year-on-year, which also strengthens our position on the global stage.”, said Claudio Mosconi, the head of the Lugano Elegance Organising Committee.

Full interview with Massimo Boni, director of Lugano Region:

We are now in the middle of winter, but your eyes must already be on the warmer seasons. What are the plans of Lugano Region for the Spring & Summer of 2024?

We mainly look at promoting the Spring-Summer season, but also those periods when there are no holidays or festivities, where we attract different interest groups, such as couples, enthusiasts of art and culture and foodies.

On the website there are a lot of regional events promoted in four languages (English, Italian, German and French). What is the actual importance of international events for the development of tourism in the Lugano region?

With the events calendar of luganoregion.com, we promote all events in four languages because our destination is cosmopolitan and hosts events with international appeal, from major exhibitions to sporting events. Lugano Elegance is becoming a regular event, the Classic Cars Concours d'Elegance reaching its fourth edition this year in May.

Which do you think are the biggest advantages that a partnership with this event is bringing to the Lugano Region, considering the wide range of high-level participants joining the event each year?

Lugano Elegance is an event with participants from different countries that therefore contribute to making the destination known internationally. Moreover, the audience it attracts is in line with one of our target groups, HNWI.

What are the current major challenges for the Lugano Region, and how do you envision the city and region's future over the next decade?

Like all tourist destinations, we are subject to geopolitical factors that can have an impact on arrivals. However, our diversification of visitor markets is a strength at critical times. The city is moving to expand its offer to the needs of today's traveller, who is looking for state-of-the-art facilities and quality events. In this sense, there are major projects in the pipeline for the coming years, from the construction of the new Polo Sport ed Eventi (PSE) to a Polo Congressuale at Campo Marzio, which will generate new flows, contributing to the development of the entire region.
